Alvin "Gene" Jackson, age 55, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2026.

He was born on July 2, 1971, in Little Rock to, Ernest A. Jackson and Carolyn McCoy Jackson.

Gene was a cherished son, brother, companion and friend, whose life was defined by compassion, service and love for all creatures great and small. Gene graced the world with his kindness and unwavering dedication to those around him.

Gene is predeceased in death by his father, Ernest A. Jackson Jr.; and grandparents, Ernest Jackson Sr. and Shirley Jackson; and Archie McCoy and Mary McCoy.

Gene will be remembered by his loving companion, Karen Anderson, whom he shared a lifelong bond with; his mother, Carolyn Jackson; sister, Eppie Ward; brother, Michael Jackson; several nieces and nephews; the Robertson Family and his furry friend, Dixie.

Gene's education journey began at Cutter Morning Star High School, followed by further studies at National Park Community College, where he cultivated a love for learning and helping others. His career was a testament to this dedication, as he found his calling working for Arkansas Hospice. In this role, Alvin's compassionate nature shone brightly; he provided comfort and solace to patients and their families during their most challenging times.

His heart was always open to his "fur babies," who adored him as their "Poppy." Gene's love for animals extended beyond his home, as he also found joy in maintaining both marine and freshwater aquariums, a hobby that allowed him to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with friends and family.

Gene's kindness knew no bounds. He was a loyal friend to many. His ability to spread warmth and happiness to those around him was a gift that touched many lives.

In honoring his life, the family has asked that any donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)http://secure.aspca.org/donate/ps-honor-sl-p1, reflecting Gene's lifelong commitment to the welfare of animals.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Robertson Family, Dr. Ted Faro and staff, the staff at CHI 5th floor, and Arkansas Hospice for their support and care during his short battle with cancer.

Gene's legacy is one of love, warmth and kindness — a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a celebration of Gene's life at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, with Shane Robertson officiating.

Pallbearers are Joe Sangster, Todd Thacker, Richie Hurst, Darrell Ketchum, Archie McCoy and Cody Ward.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Moon, Michael Jackson, Lloyd Robertson and Eddie Steadman.
