David C. Haywood
David Charles Haywood, 86, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, transitioned on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at The Springs Park Avenue in Hot Springs. He was born on Jan. 15, 1940, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Ida Ruth Haywood-Cooper.
David attended Langston High School. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated and hardworking man. He worked for many years at two of Hot Springs' well-known establishments, the Arlington Hotel and the Majestic Hotel. He was also employed with HSA in Indianapolis, Indiana.
David enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved reading, watching CNN News and taking walks. He also had a special passion for dogs and truly enjoyed their companionship. Of all the dogs that touched his heart, his own beloved dog, Jobel, held a very special place in his life. David also had the gift of singing in the church and later in life he accepted Christ in his time of illness.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Ruth Haywood-Cooper; stepfather, Fred Cooper; brother-in-law, Albert B. Turner Jr.; and nephew, Albert B. Turner III.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Maggie Turner of Hot Springs, Arkansas; nieces, Sherrisa (Dr. Chester) Turner-McIntyre of Kansas City, Missouri, and Lauri (Pastor Kenneth) Turner-Gulley of Little Rock, Arkansas; nephew, Marland (Marinda) B. Turner of Rockford, Illinois; cousins, John P. Haywood of Ridgecrest, California, and Fannie Anderson; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
David lived a life filled with meaningful moments, quiet joys and love for those around him. His family and friends will cherish the memories they shared with him and his presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at noon. The Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Living Waters COGIC, 306 Grove St., Hot Springs, AR 71901, with Pastor David L. Withers officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
