Doyce Montgomery, 95, passed away May 9, 2026, at his home in Plano, Texas.

Doyce was born in 1930 in Long Beach, California. But his parents, Joseph and Elsie Montgomery, soon moved back to the Hot Springs area, where he spent the majority of his life.

Doyce graduated from Magnet Cove High School in 1948, where he excelled at basketball, football and track. He married his high school sweetheart, Eloise Dillard, in 1951. Doyce and Eloise were married 74 years until her death in 2025. They raised two children together, David Montgomery of Dallas, Texas, and Marta Leo of Plano, Texas. Doyce worked for General Motors and Reynolds Cable for the majority of his career, before retiring in 1990.

Doyce and Eloise were longtime members of 70 West Church of Christ (and its predecessors),where he served as a deacon and treasurer for many years. After retirement, Doyce spent many afternoons golfing with good friends, including John Plyler, Bill Elam and Buddy Black.

In their later years, Doyce and Eloise moved to Plano, Texas, with their daughter and her family, Marta and Greg Leo, where they enjoyed spending more time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doyce will be remembered for his sunny disposition and wonderful sense of humor. He loved sports and games of all kinds and was the most competitive person you have ever met, even into his 90s.
