Joe Williams

Joe Williams passed away peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 21, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father and highly respected law enforcement officer, Joe lived a life defined by service, integrity and compassion.

Joe possessed a rare and genuine gift for connecting with others. His warm spirit and approachable nature earned him the admiration and friendship of all who had the privilege to know him. Ever adventurous at heart, he was always ready for a motorcycle ride or a new excursion, each journey destined to become a cherished story shared with family and friends.

Over the course of his distinguished 31-year career as a police officer, Joe served his city with unwavering dedication, honor and professionalism, ultimately attaining the rank of sergeant. His leadership and steady example shaped the careers and lives of many within the department and throughout the community. He also served in numerous capacities with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge One, further demonstrating his commitment to his fellow officers and the profession he held in such high regard.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and, following his retirement from the police department, continued his service as a Diplomatic Security Officer. His lifelong dedication to protecting and serving others stands as a lasting testament to his character.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nute and Katie Williams; his sisters, Katie Williams and Virgie Cook; and his brother, Henry Williams.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyne Williams; his sons, Joey and Cody Williams; his brother, Ted Williams (Betty); and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the HSPD Honor Guard for their meaningful service and tribute to Joe's life and legacy.

Visitation with the family will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, followed by a memorial service starting at 2 p.m. at Gross Funeral Home, 120 Wrights St., Hot Springs, Arkansas.
