John B. Moseley

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia -- Colonel (USA Ret.) John B. Moseley, Sr., 78, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away Jan. 3, 2026, after a courageous journey with dementia.

He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late Alice (Sue) and Winford Moseley and is preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 56 years, Nellie Moseley, who passed away in 2024. He often described her as the "toughest Army Wife there ever was" and credited her as the reason for his success.

A proud graduate of the University of Arkansas, John earned both a BS and an MBA while enrolled in Army ROTC. He served more than 30 years as an Air Defense Officer with distinguished assignments in the 82nd Airborne Division, the 3rd Infantry Division (Rock of the Marne) and as commander of the 3-6 ADA Battalion.

After retiring from active duty, he continued serving through DSCA before deciding he had earned the right to spend his days golfing, traveling and sharing adventures with his granddaughter. John devoted his life to family, service and leadership, usually in that order, unless the Razorbacks were playing.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Moseley (William Martin) and John B. Moseley, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia; his granddaughter, Abigail Moseley of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and many dear friends, including Bobby Jines, Charlie Baldwin, Bud Morgan, Lenny Grasso and Brian Thomson.

John will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness and infectious laugh. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, July 24, 2026, followed by a reception at Patton Hall Ft. Myer, Virginia. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life.
