Lura A. Cheatham

Lura Alvena Cheatham Jan. 31, 1932 – July 9, 2026.

Lura Alvena Cheatham, 94, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 9, 2026. Born Jan. 31, 1932, Alvena lived a life of deep faith, love and service. She married her husband, Billy Ray Cheatham, on Oct. 13, 1950, and they shared 63 wonderful years before his passing.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church, Alvena was known for her gracious spirit and her "Master's in Motherhood and Grandparenting," pouring wisdom and prayer into her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Cheatham; her father, Kennard Walters; her mother, Helen Smith; and her two brothers.

She is survived by her children: Shawna Terry (Donnie), Yvonne Sipes, Kevin Cheatham (Kathy) and David Cheatham (Leah); five sisters; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great‑grandchildren.

Her family rejoices knowing she is home with Jesus, held in eternal peace.
