Mark S. Athetis

Age 71 Hot Springs
July 30, 2026

Mark Steven Athetis, 71, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on July 26, 2026.

Mark was born on Feb. 21, 1955, in Youngstown, Ohio, to his loving parents, Andrew and Mary Athetis. In 1966, he and his family relocated to Arkansas, where he grew up and graduated from Hot Springs High School, Class of 1973. He later attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Mark was known for his quick laugh, great sense of humor and kind, generous spirit -- qualities that remained with him throughout his life. He built a career as a Quality Control supervisor with Feather-Lite Manufacturing Company in Hot Springs before continuing his career with Windsor Door in Little Rock.

Beyond his work, Mark had a passion for boating, fishing, cycling, hiking, traveling, spending time with his pets, and making memories with family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 26 years, Ginger Athetis; his parents, Andrew and Mary Athetis; his nephew, Andrew Athetis IV; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Alyx Thompson, and her husband, Tucker Thompson; his brother, Andrew Athetis III, and his wife, Gina Athetis; his niece, Elizabeth Parker, and her husband, Andrew Parker; his loving companion, Frances Pennington; and many other caring family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mark's dedicated caregiver, Donna Lines ("Kricket"), for the love, compassion and dedicated care she provided throughout the past year. Her kindness, countless hours of support and many trips to doctors' appointments brought Mark comfort and dignity. Our family will always be deeply grateful for her friendship and compassionate care.

Visitation will be held at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, 155 Section Line Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Garland County, P.O. Box 23053, Hot Springs, AR 71903, in Mark's memory.
