Mary L. Douglas

Mary Lou Douglas, 87, of Arkansas, passed away Feb. 19, 2026. She was born Feb. 27, 1938, in Oak Grove, Arkansas, to Jesse James and Gladys O'Neal Williams.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Mary Lou was raised in the Assembly of God Church. She married her sweetheart of 57 years, Chester "Chet" Douglas. Together they owned and operated Chet's Market in California and Arkansas, and later the Family Restaurant and Donut Shop in Arkadelphia. She was a devoted wife, mother, "Mimi," sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dewayne; and several siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin Douglas-Bell; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her sister, Sue Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, in Atkinson Funeral Home chapel in Malvern, with visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026. Burial will follow at Lone Hill Community Cemetery.
