Patrick Humphries

It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick Humphries, 77, announces his passing at his home in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on Oct. 5th, 2026.

Patrick was born on Nov. 3rd, 1948, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Thomas Agee and Frances Humphries. Patrick earned his Bachelor degree in psychology at Louisiana Tech on a baseball scholarship. He then became a certified science teacher at Watson Elementary in El Dorado. After receiving his Master degree in Administration from North East Louisiana University, Patrick, at age 25, became the principal of Watson Elementary, where he earned great respect from his students.

Patrick and Susan were married in El Dorado in 1974, after dating for four years. They loved each other deeply. They moved to Hot Springs in 1984, with their 4-year-old son, Ryan. After several years in education, he and Susan opened and operated Huddle House restaurants and soon opened convenience stores. After selling them, they owned apartment complexes and rental houses. While operating all of these, Patrick also assisted Susan with her Junior Cotillion classes in five counties in Arkansas, for 30 years.

As one of Patrick's current neighbors said "The party always started when Patrick arrived. He had a way of making everyone feel special and appreciated. Oh, how everyone loved Patrick!" He also enjoyed gardening vegetables, pineapple plants and lemon tree, traveling to foreign places and all of his numerous friends and even strangers.

He had many wonderful, loving and humorous recollections of his childhood friends, his parents and his grandparents. He always said he's who he is because of their influence.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Susan; and his son, Ryan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, known by many as Tootsie and Agee.

The family will have a private burial.
