Patsy A. Haynes

Texarkana
June 10, 2026

"Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies" (Proverbs 31:10).

Patsy Ann (Jones) Haynes passed away Thursday morning, June 4, 2026, at the age of 76, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, after a yearlong battle with ovarian cancer. Known by her loved ones as "Precious," she walked with love, compassion and grace as a proud and strong mother, wife, sister and teacher. She was dedicated to her family, church and community and made it her personal mission in life to make sure no one was left out and everyone felt a sense of belonging.

Patsy attended Arkansas High School in Texarkana, Arkansas, where she was a cheerleader. It was here that she met a smart, quiet young man, Danny Ray Haynes. After graduating from high school in 1967, Patsy attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where Danny was pursuing his degree in education. They were married on June 8, 1968, in Texarkana, Arkansas.

In 1970, the couple welcomed an energetic baby, named Robbie Haynes, into this world. Patsy had her hands full with college and a baby, yet she graduated with a BA in Education and started teaching elementary students at the same school where Danny was teaching. Little Holli Haynes followed in 1974, and soon after, Patsy encouraged Danny to pursue his dream of becoming a dentist.

After Danny graduated from dental school, the family moved to Hot Springs. Danny set up his dental practice, and Patsy taught at Lake Hamilton Elementary. She was beloved by her students, many of whom continue to express their love for her to this day. Once the dental practice was off the ground, Patsy retired from teaching, becoming the practice manager until they both retired in 2021.

The couple had achieved their life's goal, creating a practice that not only provided care to their community, but allowed them to serve as dental missionaries to international communities in need. Led by their deep Christian faith and love of their Lord, they brought health, healing and joy during many mission trips.

Patsy was committed to local service as well, providing countless volunteer hours to Arkansas-based charities. As an active member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), Chapter BJ, she helped raise funds to provide higher education scholarships for women. After conquering breast cancer in her 50s, she volunteered for the American Cancer Society, dedicating many hours in support of Relay for Life. Patsy was also on the board of Recovery Point Ministry, an organization providing assistance to women with addictions. She not only volunteered her time to these organizations, but utilized her penchant for hospitality by hosting fundraisers.

Patsy was a passionate, tireless hostess. She loved cooking, taking family trips, spending time with lifelong friends and enjoying the lake on the pontoon boat while listening to classic soul music. Patsy's love of music translated to the dance floor, where she and her sister, Retta, would be the first ones cutting a rug. One particularly memorable evening was Patsy and Danny's 50th wedding anniversary party. While guests donned '60s and '70s style clothing, Patsy took great pride in re-wearing her actual wedding dress, circulating the tables to recall humorous stories and memories, inciting delight as she danced and sang along to her favorite tunes.

Although Patsy's proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, her dedication to her family extended not only to them, but to her numerous nieces and nephews and their children. In recognition of her aunt's love, a niece aptly named her Precious, which also became her grandmother name. Having lost her parents and both of her sisters, Precious was the matriarch of the family, and as her eldest grandson, Christian Hibbs put it, "She didn't just set an example, she was the example." She enthusiastically attended every possible performance and sporting event, demonstrating unconditional love for everyone.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Danny Ray Haynes; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Milburn and Mary Catherine Haynes of Texarkana, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Sue Finley of Hot Springs; brother-in-law, Terry Brennan of Hot Springs; son, Rob Haynes and Dr. Chris Eden of San Francisco, California; daughter, Holli and Ryan Browning of Hot Springs; grandson, Christian and Emma Hibbs and son, Kyrie of Fayetteville; and Brennan Browning and Bryce Browning of Hot Springs. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lila and Marion Upton of Texarkana, Arkansas; and Arthur and Minnie Jones of Fouke, Arkansas; parents, T.P. and Lucille Jones of Texarkana, Arkansas; and sisters, Genevieve "Jeannie" Finley and Loretta "Retta" Brennan, both of Hot Springs.

A celebration of life will be held at Hot Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, June 13, with visitation set for 1 p.m. Donations in her honor may be made to Our Promise Cancer Resources, Recovery Point Ministries and Guardian Angels Cat Rescue. Ladies attending the service are encouraged to wear a hat or fascinator in her honor, with a splash of red in memory of her ever-present lipstick.
