River J.D. Howard

River Joe Dale Howard was born on Dec. 16, 2021. He passed away at home surrounded by family on June 24, 2026.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Scooter "Papaw" (Beth "Mamaw") Turnbull, Stevie Joe "Papaw," Susie "Yah Yah" Swaim, Don "Pappa" (Mary Lou "Mimi") Howard and Paul "Papaw" Hamilton; his grandparents, Wyck "Pop" Martindill, Shannon "Pappy" Hamilton and Rita "Gammy" Edmonson.

He is survived by both of his parents, Keaton (McKenzie) Howard; his sister, Norene Louise "Nora Lou" Howard; his grandparents, Kristi "Mimi" Swaim, Debbie "Granny/Dede" Martindill, Brandon "Papaw" (Robin "Mamaw") Turnbull and Mark "Gampy" Howard; and great-grandparents, Sid "Pappa Sid" (Marsha "Mamaw") Pittman.

River is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Ray (Brenda) Huff, April "Nene" Swaim, Scott (Lainey) Howard, Brandon Howard, Chelsey Stewart, Denton Howard, Claire Cooley, Devin (Stephanie) Beard, Tyler Korban, Garrett (Kim) Adams, Rosalyn Minyard, Jeremiah "Jarjar" (Natalie "Nat Nat") Wilson, Hail Fryhover, Jared (Brandie) Golden, Bryce (Mackenzie) Swaim, Austin (Gabby) Swaim, Katie (Michaela) Kidder-Davis, Chris (Hannah) Davis, Kord (Lynzie) Dwello, Jesse (Jennifer) Delling, Collin (Brooke) Dudine and his favorite aunt, Carson "CarCar" Hamilton.

There are too many words to describe River, because he meant so much to everyone. River was an angel. When you look up the definitions of love and light, you would find a picture of River. River's favorite things to do were, go to the rodeo, watch cars and watch the hogs with his daddy and Gampy. River was the most comfortable in his mommy's arms, looking up at her. River was a light that made you smile all the time.
