Shelton E. Garner Jr.

Shelton Earl Garner Jr., 66, formerly of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026.

Shelton was born on Feb. 19, 1960, in New York City, New York, to Shelton Earl Garner Sr. and Mabel Viola Montgomery Garner.

At 13 days old, Shelton Jr. transferred to Hawaii with his mom and dad with the Navy.

After his dad's retirement from the Navy, the family settled near Huttig, Arkansas, where Shelton Sr. and his best friend Pete Plair formed a hunting and fishing camp on Jones Lake, now known as Fesenthal Wildlife Refuge.

After his father's death, the family relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas.

In Shelton Jr.'s early life, he loved camping at Brady, Crystal and Three Sisters on Ouachita in the family's RV and motorcycling the backroads with his sister, Shelley. Additionally, Shelton loved to motocross and fast track with his family in tow to places like Friendship, Arkansas.

Shelton loved his family and friends and continued his love of the outdoors, camping, floating, hunting and fishing. He readily volunteered to help his family and friends with every request they had.

Shelton supported his passions as a commercial master plumber at Riverbend Plumbing in Des Arc, Arkansas.

Shelton is survived by his sister, Shelley McCormick, daughter, Ariel Sweet and her mother Dana Hopkins, two grandchildren, Christopher and Matti Sweet and niece, Alexa Gibbs (Connor). Shelton is also survived by his beloved dog, Lincoln, and the many friends he had at deer camp and in Hot Springs that he spent many weekends listening to live music with.

He was preceded in death by his father, Shelton Earl Garner Sr., and his mother, Mabel Viola Montgomery Garner.

Bubba, you are truly missed.
