Chancey J. Shaw
The force that was Chancey James Shaw went to be with God on Aug. 31, 2026. He was born on Feb. 25, 1988.
He was 38 years old. He is a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Gary and Toni Shaw. He attended Lakeside School where he participated in many clubs and was an avid tennis player. He graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Graduate Degree in Psychology.
He fought a brave and relentless battle with cancer for the last 10 years. Chancey was unapologetically himself. He was mischievous and clever. He had a great love for reading and art and music.
He had an infectious laugh and lit up any room he entered. He never met a stranger. He was wild about Halloween.
Chancey was a searcher as someone wise once said. Most of all, he loved his Mongie, dad, sister, family and friends dearly. He will be sorely missed. There will never be anyone like him.
For those of us who knew him, we are lucky. To not of known him is a sad thought.
He is survived by his mom, dad, sister, aunt, uncle, niece and nephew. Preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Chancey wished for no service or funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or NAMI, the National Alliance of Mental Illness. Chancey was a huge advocate for this organization and fundraised for their cause.
If I ever send you a song, just know I'm thinking of you.
