Jewel D. Coleman
JESSIEVILLE — Jewel Dean "Judy" Coleman, 100, of Jessieville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family on April 25, 2026. She lived a full and remarkable life defined by devotion to her family, quiet strength, and enduring faith.
Judy was born on Aug. 2, 1925, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Leon and Allie Young. In 1943, at the age of 17, she met and married a handsome young soldier named Frank Coleman, who was stationed at Altus Air Force Base. Upon his discharge from the service, they moved to his family home at Jessieville, where she would continue to live for the next 83 years. The first 10 years of their marriage blessed them with four children: Jimmy, Ronnie, Pam, and Gary. Judy devoted 56 years to working in the family quartz crystal business, primarily as manager and salesperson in the gift shop, and later as a part-time bookkeeper.
Judy was active in the Jessieville First Baptist Church and filled many roles there during her lifetime, as well as forging many lifelong friendships there. She was also an active PTA volunteer at Jessieville School when her children were young, and she never missed the chance to cheer on her children at their basketball games. Her favorite activities throughout the years included hosting countless family holiday dinners, babysitting her grandchildren, visiting her Oklahoma sisters, enjoying lively domino games with family, reading good books with happy endings and watching Razorback basketball. In addition, she will long be remembered for her chicken and dumplings and her pumpkin bread.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that spans generations and will continue to live on through each member of her family.
She is survived by her children, Ron Coleman and wife Betty, Pam McCaskill and husband Jan, Gary Coleman and wife Mary Jo, and daughter-in-law Terri Coleman.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Coleman, her eldest son, Jimmy Coleman; and her eldest grandson, Philip Coleman. Judy was the middle of nine children and was also preceded in death by all eight of her siblings, including Claude Young, Lavada Estes, Margie Franks, Bertie Mae Young, Lois Briston, Hazel Wallace, Maxine Horton, and Erma Van Buskirk.
She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren, Karmen Baker and husband Allen; Kevin Coleman and wife Kathy; Lisa Carey and husband Michael; Coleman McCaskill and wife Cora; Michelle McCaskill Harris and husband Randy; Angela Wisener and husband Jack; and Brandi Smith and husband Robert. Her great-grandchildren include Abigail Baker, Maxine Baker, Alex Coleman, Joshua Coleman, Chase Carey, Ben Carey, Blakley Bradley, Ashton Street, Dakota Morgan, Ronnie Wisener, Samantha Robertson, and Jeremiah Smith. Her life was further enriched by her great-great grandchildren, Kynlee Jewel and Penelope Coleman, and Caroline, Easton, and Jett Street, in addition to many treasured nieces and nephews, and all her beloved blended and bonus family members and friends.
Judy was also blessed with the companionship and care of her devoted caregivers Cathy West, Barbara Head, Vicki Vantreeck, Debbie Stultz, Melissa Speers, and Ashley Crain, who were by her side each day, as well as the support of her many cherished and lifelong friends from Jessieville First Baptist Church. The family is also grateful to Arkansas Hospice for their care and service to their mother.
