Peggy J.F. Hamilton

Peggy Jeanette (Funderburk) Hamilton, aged 80, passed from this life to her heavenly home, Sunday, Aug. 30, at National Park Medical Center. Peggy was born Nov. 25, 1945, to Earl Autry and Lena Ida (Cotton) Funderburk, in Center Point, Arkansas. She was raised to be very active and devout as a Missionary Baptist. She married her soulmate Paul Hamilton on Dec. 4, 1964.

She is predeceased by her parents; a sister, Barbara Hulsey; a niece, Vickie Hulsey Harmon; and a beloved son, Paul Richard "Ritchie" Hamilton.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years and 8 months, Paul; a daughter Katrina (Grant) Yaney; the two loves of her life, her grandsons, Reed Richard Yaney and Nathan Paul Yaney; a "bonus daughter", Kelley Fikes; a dear niece, Jeanine (Luther) Snow; dear cousin, Donnie (Shelia) Terry; special lifelong friends, Mary Lou Bennett, Judy Williams, Helga Bridges and Shirley Blair; HSRC lunch bunch and her "coffee girls" and a host of family and friends.

Peggy will be deeply missed, but they know she is now in the presence of Jesus.

Peggy retired from the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center in 2010. She worked as a secretary in various departments for 28 years. She enjoyed traveling, attending functions with Beta Sigma Phi and spending time with family and friends. Peggy never met a stranger and was never shy about telling stories of her childhood in sunny Florida and her life spent traveling.

She and Paul enjoyed fishing together and she beat him every time. She especially enjoyed taking trips with her friends to a variety of different spots, including Hawaii, Alaska, The Great Smoky Mountains, the Carolinas, Niagara Falls and taking multiple cruises to the Caribbean. She and Katrina visited Magnolia (Fixer Upper) in Waco, Texas, and the Drummond Ranch (Pioneer Woman) in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

The family wishes to thank the numerous family and friends that have reached out concerning Peggy and offered their assistance in a variety of ways. It will certainly never be forgotten.

A special thank you to the staff and students at Hot Springs Beauty College for taking such good care of "Ms. Peggy" all these years. She loved getting pampered by you. Special thanks to Dr. Greg Whorton, Nurse/Friend Linda Chadick, Dr. Fred Heinemann and staff, and Dr. Fred Divers and staff.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today, Sept. 10, 2026 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 at the same location with Brother Todd Houck officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Reed Yaney, Luther Snow, Don Terry Jr., Dwight Rye, Mike Price and Mike Wright.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, Hot Springs, Arkansas.
